Internal communication

The Terras communicate with smoke. Every colour of smoke has a different meaning.

  • Yellow smoke if someone wants to show the rest something and you invite them to come look at it.

  • Blue smoke if it’s time to eat

  • Red smoke if there is a crisis (someone is hurt, someone died, etc.)

  • Green smoke if the pater familias has something important to say

  • Purple smoke if there’s something to discuss about the Papua

  • Black smoke if the pater familias calls everyone in to move forward to another place

They also use the head of an acorn to communicate. Every Terra has a typical sound. If they want to communicate with one person in particular, they blow the sound of the person and they will hear it because they have excellent ears.

Every week there’s a newsletter, written by the pater familias on a parchment-like piece of paper in front of the place where he is staying. Everyone can read it because it’s written in the symbols known to every Terra. It is special symbols that only the Terras use. They can’t write English because they don’t have schools there.
